BIO

Born in Lisbon, Ana Catarina Pereira works in London. Her work is centred on steel’s composition and behaviour, in a metallurgical sense with an artistic point of view. Pereira believes that materials help us to understand the way our humanity operates. The current political and social environment led her to study the behaviour of steel molecular structure in order to find different ways to structure our society. Since the essence of sculpture is not materials, but rather the relationship between human beings, her work is an enquire on the ideas of presence and absence that we all share.
